the final curtain…or the opening act.

So it comes to me to sit here and put to paper(electric) my final thoughts to someone who recently violently passed. I will not specify means nor degrade or uphold the actions of violence by speaking on them, rather I will tell you what can be learned from the flickering light that shined bright if not a little quirky.

In life we are all subject to strange behaviors but occasionally someone comes along who truly represents the chaos of a soul that is turbulent as the sea, and as beautiful. Such a soul has been lost to us today, like the sea we can all agree to like or dislike it, or at times love and hate it. This soul took the world like tides, twisting and changing the very landscape it encountered, for good or not he changed us all. Its hard to not be affected by a powerful soul as this, and most the time if nothing else you could walk away with a bad sunburn but a smile at the crazy memory left burned into your mind.

I’m fond myself of the spiritualist concept tied with physics, that matter can neither be created nor destroyed only transferred  mix with the conservation of energy, one must wonder how much of a passing spirit is spreading a little mass and energy to us all and so the thought that we carry someone with us is a quite literal metaphor. If the hearts is looked as an object to be held in regard then one could say that by connecting to another source or heart our pattern of rest becomes entwined. The transference of energy is passed and matter is exchanged, thus we are truly changed by the passing heart.

I had the pleasure of speaking deeply with Sean on spirituality, and thus religion, and while at this time I’m not sure what his passing thoughts where,  in the Buddhist teaching of the personal experience He was deeply rooted. In that idea of karma and trans spiritual lives one can not do more than follow the path that karma has lade before us, experience it and try to enhance the lives around us in a positive manner. I will thus leave this with a prayer that i find comforting and then a prayer that maybe Sean would like. In all this RIP Sean hopefully your traveling the wide universe bringing quirky smiles to millions of other molecules out there.

First His Prayer: (odd but so was Sean)

Let Us Live Happily

Let us live happily, without hate amongst those who hate. Let us dwell unhating amidst hateful men.
Let us live happily, in good health amongst those who are sick.
Let us dwell in good health amidst ailing men.
Let us live happily, without yearning for sensual pleasures amongst those who yearn for them.
Let us dwell without yearning amidst those who yearn.
Let us live happily, we who have no impediments. We shall subsist on joy even as the radiant gods.

Prayer for Freedom From Suffering

May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.
May those frightened cease to be afraid,
and may those bound be free.
May the powerless find power,
and may people think of befriending
one another.
May those who find themselves in trackless,
fearful wilderness–
the children, the aged, the unprotected–
be guarded by beneficent celestials,
and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood.

Finally mine:

“You want a physicist to speak at your funeral. You want the physicist to talk to your grieving family about the conservation of energy, so they will understand that your energy has not died. You want the physicist to remind your sobbing mother about the first law of thermodynamics; that no energy gets created in the universe, and none is destroyed. You want your mother to know that all your energy, every vibration, every Btu of heat, every wave of every particle that was her beloved child remains with her in this world. You want the physicist to tell your weeping father that amid energies of the cosmos, you gave as good as you got.

“And at one point you’d hope that the physicist would step down from the pulpit and walk to your brokenhearted spouse there in the pew and tell them that all the photons that ever bounced off your face, all the particles whose paths were interrupted by your smile, by the touch of your hair, hundreds of trillions of particles, have raced off like children, their ways forever changed by you. And as your widow rocks in the arms of a loving family, may the physicist let her know that all the photons that bounced from you were gathered in the particle detectors that are her eyes, that those photons created within her constellations of electromagnetically charged neurons whose energy will go on forever.

“And the physicist will remind the congregation of how much of all our energy is given off as heat. There may be a few fanning themselves with their programs as he says it. And he will tell them that the warmth that flowed through you in life is still here, still part of all that we are, even as we who mourn continue the heat of our own lives.

“And you’ll want the physicist to explain to those who loved you that they need not have faith; indeed, they should not have faith. Let them know that they can measure, that scientists have measured precisely the conservation of energy and found it accurate, verifiable and consistent across space and time. You can hope your family will examine the evidence and satisfy themselves that the science is sound and that they’ll be comforted to know your energy’s still around. According to the law of the conservation of energy, not a bit of you is gone; you’re just less orderly.
